2nd Drive: structuring a development path

Support for a digital car-rental service across strategy, organisation and performance management.

2nd Drive

Car rental

Antony, Île-de-France

Car-rental service with a highly digital customer journey.

CONTEXT

A car-rental service designed around a digital journey

2nd Drive is developing a car-rental service in Antony with a largely digital customer journey. The experience is intended to let customers book a vehicle, provide the information required for the rental, prepare collection and manage the main stages with minimal friction.

In this model, customer experience depends as much on simple interfaces as on the quality of the organisation behind them: vehicle availability, information flow, file validation, departure preparation and return follow-up.

CHALLENGE

Structure development without complicating the experience

Developing a digital rental service requires several dimensions to remain aligned: the value proposition, customer journey, operational organisation and performance management.

The challenge is to preserve a simple user experience while giving the business sufficiently clear and structured processes to support growth, reduce friction and make decisions easier.

DIMENSIONS CONSIDERED

Strategy, organisation and performance

01

Strategy

Clarify positioning, development priorities and the service value proposition.

  • Clarify positioning around a digital rental experience
  • Identify development priorities
  • Structure the value proposition
  • Consider differentiating points in the journey
  • Align commercial objectives and customer experience
02

Organisation

Structure the main stages of the customer journey and the associated operating processes.

  • Review the journey from booking through return
  • Clarify rental-preparation stages
  • Organise the required exchanges and information
  • Identify interfaces between customer, vehicle and operations
  • Reduce areas of friction
  • Clarify responsibilities and important sequences
03

Performance

Define useful reference points for monitoring activity and supporting decisions.

  • Identify relevant indicators
  • Review the booking journey
  • Monitor the main operational stages
  • Observe friction points
  • Establish a continuous-improvement framework
  • Connect management information with decisions

Analysis: connect customer experience and operations

In a highly digital car-rental model, performance does not depend only on booking volume. It also relies on the ability to make the journey fluid, maintain reliable information and coordinate operational stages correctly.

Vehicle availability, the quality of collected information, file processing, departure preparation, return management and the ability to identify causes of friction quickly all influence the final experience.

A structured approach therefore connects what the customer experiences with the internal mechanisms that make service delivery possible.

No quantified result is published without the client’s explicit validation.
